As the spectator’s numbers increase every year (approx. 2000 last year) the limited space makes it no longer feasible to hold the firework display outside the Centre.
Management committee members met with City of Edinburgh Council ‘Events Planning & Operations Group’ who agreed that Colinton Mains Park could be a suitable venue. It also became apparent during this meeting just how much work needs to be done in the limited time to organise this event.
Regrettably, it has been agreed that due to the refurbishment of the centre and the planning of the centre re-launch the committee does not have the man power resources to commit to the fireworks this year.
Thanks to John McNeil and the EPOG committee who were most supportive and will help guide us through the process next year (2014) when the Pentland Centre Management Committee should be able to have a display in Colinton Mains Park.
After our summer refurbishment we can now announce that the centre will reopen on Monday the 28th October 2013.
We hope that all our groups and visitors will appreciate all the changes that have taken place.
Whilst the refurbishments were under way all our groups were either suspended or displaced but we will be glad when you all return to enjoy the new centre.
Welcome to the brand new pentlandcommunitycentre.com
Although our website has been around for a couple of years, with the renovations at the centre we decided that the website should also get a complete refresh.
Along with the new look, the new website features a more complete experience for you. This includes a calendar system, photos, downloads, newsletters, polls and social media updates. Additionally, every group has their own page to tell you all about who they are and what they do as well as all the information about their group such as meeting days and times, prices, spaces available, photos, etc.
So I welcome you once again and invite you to have a look around. I hope you like the new improved site and visit again.
Over this summer the centre has been undergoing refurbishments to improve the facilities for everyone who visits. These alterations include a complete new kitchen, toilets, office, flooring and other alterations which will benefit all members. Throughout the weeks our tradesmen have created what we hope is a Pentland Community Centre that is both convenient and pleasant to use.View All Photos

The Pentland Community Centre will be closed to the public from the 26th June 2013 for approximately twelve weeks over the summer. This is because it will be undergoing a major refurbishment which will include a complete new kitchen, toilets, offices and other alterations which will benefit all members. Look out for the Pentland Centre reopening date which will be advertised locally and on this website.
